More about Chris:
I was born in Boston, Ma. and grew up in Foxboro, MA with what would become a popular mountain biking area. Back in the day, it would be just me on my BMX bikes and motos riding the singletracks before anyone even thought about mountain bikes. I got my first real mountain bike as my high school graduation present in 1994 – a full rigid Rockhopper with canti brakes.
I moved to Vail, CO in 1997 to chase some snow and work as a liftie. Classic skibum story, moved to ski town for one winter and ended up living there for almost 8 years. I need something to do in the summer and had a couple of friends who worked at a local bike shop. I scored a job doing sales in 1998 and have been working at bikes shops ever since.
In 2005 wanted to get out of a ski town and move somewhere I could ride bikes year round and still have sweet a snowboarding mountain close by. I had close friends who lived in Bend. Came here, checked it and fell in love with this place! I moved here a few months later. In May 2005 got hired at Hutch’s Bicycles Westside shortly after moving here. Been with the company ever since. I took the service manager position at the Bend Eastside 3 years ago.
Favorite part of the job is being hands-on fixing up bikes, talking bikes and hanging with my family that is the shop crew! South Fork is probably my favorite trail but that’s like asking who’s my favorite child! I love em all, except Sector 16. I hate that trail, can’t go very fast and it’s frustrating.
My bikes: Enduro Coil 29, Epic Pro and Surly Midnight Special. Also few cruisers (including a tandem), cargo bike and couple other random commuters.
